Desire and need in architecture

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 101-113

Human beings are fundamentally linked to a process of instinct that can make it into a process of research and generation until it becomes sufficient, and then it is renewed in space and another field, and then the process continues without a specific goal. The previous operations are centered on two poles: desire and need for architecture, , As well as the impact of human desire in architecture, they are in a wide space can not be easily understood.
The purpose of this research is to identify and integrate this process within the framework of architecture and be specific to reach a goal that satisfies the two processes. Hence, the research problem of (limits of understanding of dialogue of desire and need in architecture) Of the tests and analysis of the results collected. The research found that the architecture seeks to balance the processes of need and desire of the recipient and the user, thus balancing the dual self and the subject in architecture, in which the state of stability can be reached in thought and action. .

Focalization as Strategy for the production and reading of contemporary architectural text

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 129-143

Research examines the concept of ethical imagination as one of the influential concepts in the architectural design process. Who is known as "the Architect's ability to think according to moral frameworks to become an important source and then to be the task of balancing the poetic and the disciplined imagination to produce an ethical architectural text that benefits the individual and society. ", thus be the research problem (implications of morally imaginative concept in architecture ). So the research aims to explain the basics of moral fiction in architecture, and we are on it. Research assumes that the foundations of moral fiction have an impact on the formulation of the architectural product . For the purpose of addressing the research issue and achieving the objectives of research and verification of its hypothesis, a knowledge framework was first built . Then a comprehensive theoretical framework for the imagination of the moral architecture extracted from the architectural propositions to be finalized in three main indicators is. Principles of moral constructional imagination, the foundations of moral and ethical imagination, moral logic of the Moral imagination architecture. Then apply them to elected projects to illustrate their impact on the architectural output and to arrive at conclusions that show the architectural imagination according its basics "

Secure architectural design of commercial buildings: Terrorist and criminal aspects in shopping centers

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 163-181

The study deals with the concept of security as one of the concepts that affect the process of architectural design. Despite the development of architecture, one of its main objectives remains that the buildings are general and commercial, especially safe, regardless of the degree of urbanization or simplicity of the building, especially in view of the increasing threat of terrorist and criminal threats, Especially when human threats are common and are practiced for various reasons in the 21st century. The research problem is thus (the emergence of the cognitive need to study the safe design of human threats to commercial shopping centers). The research aims to clarify the principles of architectural design safe from human threats, as well as to know the impact of urban and architectural characteristics on the level of security of shopping malls commercial fortified, and accordingly the research assumes that the dimensions of safe design has a positive impact in the sustainability of shopping malls. In order to address the research problem and achieve the objectives of the research and validation of the hypothesis was first built knowledge framework, and then a comprehensive theoretical framework for safe design in shopping centers extracted from the architectural proposals to reflect the final version in three main dimensions, namely: principles of safe design of the criminal act and mechanisms, and principles of safe design Of the terrorist act and its mechanisms, and the urban and architectural characteristics affecting security. The first is to control the security design process according to all of its indicators. The second is the difference in the design indicators according to the nature of the threat, but they are integrated together in order to achieve security for the shopping centers and the safety of the pioneers. .

The Performance Of The Gravitas Act In The Architectural Products

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 198-214

The importance of the act of gravitas in architecture show as a normative rule on the sublimity and nobility of architectural products, through the characteristics of objective rationality and social interaction which is characterized by the act of gravitas such as clam, persistence, seriousness and others . Thus, a series of architectural studies and invitations have recently emerged to restore the gravitas of architectural product, having been overshadowed by the features of manipulation, ironic, softness, self-selectivity and other features that contradict the characteristics of the gravitas act.
The studies implicitly or explicitly introduce a set of performance characteristics to achieve the act of gravitas in the architectural output, but did not refer to it as a special study and a comprehensive collection that can be referred to as a standard rule or design characteristics that benefit the designer in building his architectural work (the research problem). The general objective of the research is consistent with the calls for a return to values in architectural products, and specifically seeks to find the characteristics of the performance of the act of gravitas in the architectural output to reach the most important mechanisms and formal elements. The research adopted a synthetic analytical approach between the supporting studies and the architectural studies to derive a comprehensive theoretical framework for the performance of the act of gravitas in architectural output. And then its application to test the hypotheses. The research found two fundamental aspects of the performance of the gravitas, a formal aspect, which was characterized by the repose of form and gravity of form, and an interactive aspect related to the characteristics of the form associated with human and society and represented the value commitment in form and strictness in form. .

The Schematic Thought of Cities beyond the Hermann Theory

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 232-246

The research focuses on one of the important theories on the human brain, how to understand the nature of human thinking and predict its behavior, Hermann's theory, by introducing a new philosophical vision, looking for the center in Herman's model, Called the inner senses as adopted by the philosopher Ibn Sina.
Thus, the research problem summarized as follows: the absence of a center in Hermann's model of organizing and coordination between the four parts of his brain that he proposed. The research adopted the hypothesis that there is a close relationship between the inner senses as proposed by Ibn Sina and Hermann's model, To the supposed center of this model), and the research aims through this proposal to find new symbolic forms developed model Hermann show the presence of the center and reflect the state of dynamism and change that characterizes the brain.
The study found that the sense of "force" of common sense represents the center in the Hermann model, while the imaginary (pictured) represents part A, the image represents the creative part D, the illusion represented the part C, and the memory (the clipboard) represents part B.
The study examined four models of cities in which different ways of thinking used, in which a certain part of the brain was clearly dominated by the four parts. However, the research found that despite the dominance of a particular part, there is a role for other parts but in varying proportions. The four parts are (common sense) which called in our research (human integration) which is the supposed center of the brain..

Ethic imagination in architecture

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 114-128

Research examines the concept of ethical imagination as one of the influential concepts in the architectural design process. Ornamentation And Transformations Of Architectural facades In Different Architectural Periods

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 144-162

Ornamentation emerged as one of the most prominent concepts that associated with the architecture for its final crystallization through creation and production together, which drew the attention of research concept, after clarifying the depth of the Ornamentation in the architectural surfaces as a system of intellectual and material oriented to the architectural output and as a transient over time and confirmed transformations of models of adornment, The research objective is to explore the indicators of ornamentation that responsible for the formulation and embodiment of architectural products according to the transformations of architectural visions.
The research adopted descriptive analytical method for the architectural surfaces ornament in the different periods and currents, that showed the transformations of ornament which make deep surfaces by the relation (in-out) or (structure-skin) after showing the effectiveness of the transformation in each era of them to reach the conclusions of the research The design of the architectural surfaces in their transformations on the indicators of intellectual ornamentation represented by semantic concepts and values, and physical indicators represented by the formal characteristics and properties of the material to produce different patterns of ornamentation which used by the designer to control the fundamental relationship of the deep architectural surfaces (in- out) through the interweaving of (structure - skin) in varied possibilities as research confirmed through its methodology. .

The Effect of Simultaneous and Sequential Performance Evaluations on Restricting the Formal Diversity of Design

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 182-197

Performance-based architectural design is an approach to consider building performance as a key element in its generation and formation. This trend has become possible due to the development of digital technologies which enabled the designer to simulate the building performance digitally in different areas of design such as constructional, environmental, etc. In this approach, the performance assessment is an essential facility in the derivation of architectural form. Previous studies showed different opinions about where, when and how to apply evaluation criteria. Consequently, the research problem has been identified as: there is no clear understanding of the effect of different methods of assessing performance criteria (simultaneous and sequential) on the formal diversity of design alternatives. Accordingly, the paper adopts a computerized design strategy based on specific performance criteria and using commercial CAD software to explore the impact of changing the sequence of performance criteria on the formal diversity of design alternatives. The results show that the best designs resulting from the simultaneous evaluation differ from those resulting from the sequential evaluation. In addition, designs resulting from the sequential evaluation process vary when the sequence of performance criteria adopted in the evaluation is changed. .

The role of standards in Hospitals’ buildings adaptation: Al-Falluja Teaching Hospital as case study

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 215-231

Previous studies have shown adaptation as key requirements of 21st century buildings generally and particularly, in hospitals’ buildings design, which are depend to apply the technical and global standards enable them to keeping up the development, and be respond to all changes happened with the evolution. While the war and the security deterioration are important factors that effect of hospital performance largely, and make it to exposure the functional and spatial obsolescence, and through that the research was founded lack of studies that focused on the concept of adaptation in the healthcare facilities, that identified the problem as (Lack of studies which deal with the concept of adaptation in local hospital buildings), and shown the hypothesis as (the buildings of hospitals designed according to VA standards, are adaptive buildings to any change occurs). So the research was elected al-Falluja Teaching Hospital as a local sample in practical study, that leading to the criteria of structural building are the most important criteria achieving adaptation in hospital buildings. .

The spiritual impact of the original decorative product in contemporary Islamic Arab architecture

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 14, Issue 2, Pages 247-268

Today the world is looking at a range of contemporary and influential technologies at all levels, Which contribute to the strengthening of contemporary architecture, Where architecture was directly influenced by contemporary technologies, The speed of achievement and accuracy in work and little effort as well as the diversity of materials that would last longer, This has become a point of attraction for architectural trends, especially the original Arab Islamic decoration, Which in the past had been created by local materials that were subject to erosion, with craftsmen's hands and a long time of achievement, Despite the availability of modern technologies of material and high-end possibilities, it remains to be seen whether Arab-Islamic decorations under this technological revolution still preserve their spirit and authenticity, Hence the special research problem, which states: (The lack of knowledge about the spirituality of the decorative product of contemporary Islamic Arab architecture), Therefore, the aim of the research is to promote the spiritual achieved in the decorative products inherent and inherent in contemporary Arab Islamic architecture, The research methodology included building a conceptual and knowledge framework for the main and secondary research terms, and then extrapolating a number of previous studies and constructing the theoretical framework for the research and then applying it to a sample of the selected projects. And that the most important research findings that the spirituality of original decorative products lies in the aesthetics associated with the form subject to the original content, where spiritual means the bug in existence and overflowing form of vitality and immortality, And the contemporary technical development in the construction materials and methods of construction makes the Arab Islamic decoration as authentic and contemporary as long as it preserves the content and form of content..

Continuous Productive Urban Landscape An Analytical study of Design Properties

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 13, Issue 4, Pages 12-23

The research had taken the concept of Continuous Productive Urban Landscape that appeared within the sustainable trends in the city, provides the opportunity to address the problems of lack in city open space, strengthen the relationship between the built environment and nature, access to multi-functional landscape.
Therefore, it request the need of research in this concept and determine its properties, so the research problem appeared, in the need of a theoretical framework for the properties of Continuous Productive Urban landscape, To help designers having its benefits in the design process.
Thus, the aim of this paper is to construct an inclusive theoretical framework of continuous productive urban landscape properties.
In order to solve the research problem, a previous literature review of the origin of the concept, has reached to the most important design properties of the Continuous Productive Urban landscape and determine the vocabularies and indicators relevant to it.
Then had been measured the validation values of the properties and its vocabularies and indicators, through analytic study for three projects had applied Continuous Productive Urban landscape within cities.
The results shown the variant in verification of these properties, coherence property emerged as a main design property, followed by integration then diversity.
Finally, had reached to a theoretical model for the properties of the Continuous Productive Urban Landscape in the city..

Intellectual immunity in architecture

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 13, Issue 4, Pages 68-81

Architectural thought is defined as a final result of all principles and cognitive visions, which stored in human mind as a mental image, and reconfigured it to be fitting with all changes happened, that exposure the thought to all cognitive impurities (intellectual viruses), which may have a weakness and vulnerability. So immunity of thought protected it from such these impurities, when the research aims to enhance the immunity concept, and its levels of intellectual architectural process, while The research problem represented with a cognitive ambiguity of the immunity concept in the intellectual architectural process, that make the research follow an analytical method in two steps :theoretical one, is to define the concept of immunity, and the role of immunity levels in promote architectural output immunity. The research assumed is the immunity of designing productions increased when, the intellectual levels of the process (the design process) increase). Another step (practical step) is to analysis all Elective projects, leading to the immune architectural production, is a production which is compatible with the surrounding environment, whatever intellectual changes have taken place and acquired through that the continuity and longevity..

The Activation Mechanisms of Co-Housing Design

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 13, Issue 4, Pages 24-37

The interesting in organizing residential complex is the most important challenges facing the process of social, economic and environmental development issues, therefore, the work on solving design, planning and organizational problems is one of the most important issues currently under discussion, in view of the fact that the population should not only be targets for development but real participants, and not to isolate community participation, waiting for the right moment for its development, or to put it in its proper framework. This study deals with community participation in housing design from the conceptual and applied aspects and analysis of the interaction between the community and the different degrees of participation. The analysis included studies dealing with participatory design for a variety of purposes, to build a knowledge base and to develop mechanisms that can be used when undertaking housing projects, the general approch of the research is to study the concept of participatory design in the cognitive aspects and explore its privacy in the buildings of residential complexes, the research problem identified as a knowledge gap about the concept of participatory design in the design and planning of residential complexes, the research assumes that the level of usre self-selection determines the participatory space pattern and the mechanism used in the co-design, the research found that there is a multiplicity of concepts of co-housing design and therefore multiple mechanisms of dealing with residential participatory space. It is sometimes takeing the concept of (Collarborative Housing); its mechanism of residential participatory space design is (mixed uses) space to create interaction and partnership between the residents of the complex. And sometimes the concept of (Collective Housing), (which adopts the space saving mechanism for some semi-private residential activities such as food places, living space, children's play space, etc., will be removed from the apartments to be shared with residents of the complex as public spaces participatory, in return for the provision of other residential spaces (Save and Share)). The level of high user self-selection at the design stage has determined the preference collarborative space pattren in residential complexes within the local environment. .

The Contemporary Affordable Housing The Principles of Contemporary Affordable Housing in Residential Buildings

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 13, Issue 4, Pages 82-96

Affordable Housing represents one of the main attitudes depended universally at the main time, to meet the developed housing need, which reflected on the development of the concept to what is called now the contemporary affordable housing which must be differentiated from the traditional affordable housing and determine its privacy according to architectural special thesis, and that brings research problem "there is a gap about the role of contemporary affordable housing principles in the development of residential in general and local projects". The research determined the main items reflected to the concept, which are represented by the contemporary affordable housing principles, site planning and the dwelling units. The research hypotheses was that "the site planning consideration and the dwelling unit have a role according to the contemporary affordable housing in international and local housing projects. The paper studied two examples, one of them is the national, and the other is the local, analyzed them according to the theoretical framework and finally submits the conclusions which shows the integration response system that achieves dimensions of housing development from residential units with high quality technological designs with suitable locations and sizes that achieve high density at low rise, connection to infrastructure, proximity to work and transportation..

Formal Transformation in Urban Context Analytical Study to the Formal Transformation in Urban Context By using the remote sensing

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 5, Issue 16, Pages 60-82

Many researchers interest directed to study the urban context as one of important concept to achieve temporal and spatial continuity in urban environment and link the building with neighboring.
The paper deals with urban context as:-
integral contain apposes clear orders and also statue procedural definition it is contain of potential and outstanding orders which instituted from joined parts in urban fabric, linked together in potential relations and bear urban and cultural values posses formal conduct, coinciding functional and rotating and bear association deliberative meanings the potential in shared between the parte and the whole and the outstanding in formal properties and vision for elements which undergo for natural and coactive transformation on the two dimensional and three dimensional level.
The outstanding order represents visual formal for urban context and the potential order represented in whole and partial syntax properties behind visible phenomena.
The research confirm upon studying the transformation in formal properties within the urban context by subtract ideas, studies of transformation in formal properties on the level of the whole or part within the urban context , with this prospective the paper problem determined as: " There is no obvious conception about transformation nature in formal properties of urban context ”.

The paper hypothesis” the transformation in formal properties within the urban context at the level of whole causes the formal transformation in properties at the level of parts. ” was tested in real urban context represent by Ancient Damascus City in Syria as one of the important urbanite and heritage element which has different type of context and it crouch to economic ,society and physics conditions.
The formal indicators was defined and measured by using (GIS) techniques in drawings and Analyzing visual and link formal properties on the level of the whole or part, the paper concluded that deforming transformation in urban context may cause the transformation in the context identity but it also achieve formal homogeneity and prevent the urban chaos, when urban gradual growth and transformation may cause formal heterogeneity if building roles was not controlling the transformation process and organize the. the urban mix between old and new buildings.

The Effect of Urban Street Planting on Improving the Climate of Baghdad city

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 10, Issue 1, Pages 21-37

The aim of this research is to study the effect of tree planting on the reduction of thermal load of solar radiation falling on the area of Baghdad city and its contribution to weather treatments; since the temperature of green mass of trees is less than the human body and higher than air temperature in winter, so one expects condense tree plantation and foliage may participate in reducing air temperature in summer and could make the climate of the city to approach near the human temperature comfort limits .The impetus to encourage the authors to undertake the research is the positive results and indications derived from earlier authors' research work and that done by other researchers. Recent advances of modern scientific and technological in the field of electronic instrumentation measurements and sophisticated thermal imaging devices, which are expected to help in measurement and obtain temperature pattern of every point on the trees or at any point on block trees, besides measuring the thermal effect of shading on human body of people using the road (the camera has an accuracy of (0.1 oC).
In order to ensure high precision and optimum reliability of experimental results in the proposed work, experts from the College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad were approached to assist in selecting one of the best suitable tree for Baghdad environment. Their choice was ( Albizia Lebbech ), and by the use of (GIS) photos of Baghdad city, the most suitable site to perform the experimental measurements in Baghdad city is chosen as the Baghdad University, in view of abundance of Albizia in addition to the availability of all other required variables. With the kind permission of the Presidency of Baghdad University, experiments have been performed on the 21st of June 2012, since this day has the highest amount of solar radiation all over the year The results and analysis have shown that there is a distinct effect of shading with trees in reducing temperature street air temperature and in providing better human effective temperature than shading the walkways with buildings . In an attempt to theoretically verify the extent of this impact on the entire city of Baghdad calculated, only the whole length of the main streets of Baghdad city are found by satellite images "GIS" ( within the boundaries of Municipality of Baghdad). It shows that the forestation process, including the effect of shading and evaporative cooling is equivalent to 45 million tones of refrigeration, which certainly will help in reducing the required energy for buildings' cooling . Therefore, the results will encourage in recommending forestation over all main streets as well as all streets in residential districts, which in return will change the whole climate of the city of Baghdad. ﯿﻬ ﺒﺎﻟﻛﺎﻤ

PILOT PROJECTS FOR TRADITIONAL AREAS IN BAHRAIN "Conservation & Urban Design Projects for Traditional Areas"

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 6, Issue 19, Pages 25-32

Bahrain has a rich heritage of built environment dating back to antiquity which left us many important of historical buildings and traditional city areas. However, the historical core areas of Bahrain’s two oldest towns, Muharraq and Manama, are now under threat. The concern of the government to seek innovative solutions for Bahrain’s cultural heritage resulted in adopting the project of “Capacity Building for Enhancement of Urban Governance: Urban Design Projects for Traditional Areas". A team comprised of an appointed project director and a number of international consultants representing various disciplines were assembled for the project with the assistance of the UN Development Program. A period of preliminary research, studies and design lasted from September 2005 till November 2006. Consultations cost of US$323,000 was met by the UN Development Program, and the over-head cost was provided by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs, Bahrain.
The objectives of this project were to develop a comprehensive approach and implementation strategies that would lead to economic regeneration of the traditional historic areas of Manama and Muharraq and to re-integrate them into the daily life of their surrounding community for the benefit of all stakeholders, while conserving and preserving their character and sense of place.
The aim of this urban regeneration is to provide a living and vital environment for residents, businesses and visitors in which all aspects of everyday life can occur in safe and attractive surroundings instead of creating an urban museum. This environment will retain its traditional character and be the basis for future growth, benefiting all stakeholders and the Kingdom of Bahrain as a whole. Pilot Projects of a variety of types will be crucial to starting the revitalization of old urban areas in Manama and Muharraq.

Developing a Conceptual Framework for Bridging the Gap Between (theory and practical) in Urban Design

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 6, Issue 19, Pages 452-465

There is confusion in professionals for the field of urban design results from the interactive nature of the
relationship between the (Idea) and presnting it in a communication language. The problem becomes more
complicated when shaping the (Concept) and the transition from the conceptual level to the next level applied.
So the main focus of current research on the statement of what the idea and concept, and the transition
mechanisms towards the application of the components of the process of urban design. It aims to search out the
mechanics and easier the process of communication between the parties of jurisdiction over the application level
and the level of education for the profession . .
Search as it tries to develop the basic ideas to move the concepts of urban design to the level applied. As the
research found that these concepts are broad and it needs to measurable indicators and to be aware of and
measurable indicators should contain realistic.
The search is based on the premise: (a real confusion between the idea and the concept (theoretically and
practically), including a direct impact on professional and academic groups within the field of urban design, in
terms of the ability to put ideas and presenting them).
Despite the fact that urban design is strongly related to applied science and experimental witch end with
objective product to bring jobs and human need. But the idea is part of very special in the field of urban design,
but it's the nature of the designer within the stages of preparation to do, but that there is no need to be followed
by the employer through the steps of the design process, the idea in any case be found behind the work, does not
matter However, the competent Fahim. If this view is important in practice, but what is happening already on the
level of education, indicates the presence of a missing link between teacher and student; represented in learning
to ask and formulate ideas and presnting, which weakens the possibility of create excellence urban product. .

Fractal Rhythm In Local Architectural facades

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 8, Issue 25, Pages 105-126

The research focuses on local architectural facades in Baghdad and the chaos and
confusion ,Loosing the balance and order that these facades suffered from, due to
random and irresponsible architectural practices, with the emergence of the idea of fractional rhythm as
a regulatory tool achieves that exciting balance back between the extremes (contextual and disorder), the
research problem has Defined that there is no study diagnosed this confusion and anarchy in local
architectural facades in Baghdad based on the idea of fractional rhythm, on that base the research's goal
is to Identify practical procedures to reach to facades with fractional rhythm far from the anarchism and
confusing, to enrich back our local facades.
To achieve research's goal, a methodology has been determined to formulate a theoretical framework
for fractal rhythm which Sets fractional rhythm indicators and detailed variables through reviewing
studies and establishing a sufficient knowledge base to apply the abstract framework within an
exploratory study on Samples of elevations belong to local architectural heritage To examine the grade
of diversity and identify mechanisms adopted and the design characteristics (formal and substantive),
that achieved the distribution of fractional rhythm reaching to test these results on the two sets of
contemporary facades the first based on local heritage as Primary source of design when the second is
random design to support the results derived and Provide The final conclusions of the research that
provides treatment solutions to this disordered and chaotic reality in our contemporary local facades.

Effect Of The Double Walls On Thermal Internal Environment Of Buildings In Baghdad

The iraqi journal of architecture and planning, Volume 12, Issue 1, Pages 35-51

the external walls represent one of the most important structural elements that have a direct effect on the thermal performance of the building. In order to achieve the aim of the research the experimental approach and style of analytical study were adopted. The current study included two main aspects: first, the theoretical side: Which included the time delay factor calculation and cooling load depending on the Radiant Time Series (RTS) theory that achieved accurate and detailed results and ease of application. While the second aspect included the practical test and measurement .The theoretical results achieved good convergence with practical results margin 22.3% increase at the expense of the electric power. Results of the study showed that the Exterior cladding material with large mass by using perforated brick of 120 mm thickness recorded the highest proportion of the economy in the amount of electric energy which considered to be the best thermally. However, Exterior cladding material (such as black Marble) and cladding materials with fewer block (such as composite- panel) represent the worst thermal performance because they made the lowest economic proportion of the amount of electric power . As well as, concluded that increasing the thickness of cavities from 25mm to 100mm may reduce the consumed amount of electric power about 4.3% ..

this evolution in the perception of space and the sense of being part of it.
From here the research problem identified as: (the impact of the cave system
techniques in the perception of space at the local level). The aim of this research was to
show the improvement in receiver perception when the technological developments
taking place in the world of virtual reality.
To achieve this aim the research follows these steps:
• Develop a comprehensive theoretical framework by presentation the most important
factors affected in the receiver perception and the properties of perceived characteristics
of space to identify the most important items that affect the process of cognition and the
characteristics of the cognitive space perceived.
• Creating a local virtual environment experience using a cave system technology, and
applied to an architectural project designed by the researcher in the Department of
Architecture - University of Technology.
• Measure the level of awareness of the recipient when using the cave system
technology that have been created in this research by comparing with the normal
computer screen technology.
The research reach a number of conclusions showing improvement in the performance
of technical CAVE system in the perception of space compared to traditional techniques
the computer screen..
